My brother just returned from a deployment. The stories that he tells are not what one hears from the media. It is admittedly hard for any of us civilians to get even a glimmering of understanding about what the military life is like. And perhaps that is one of the greatest achievements of our great military: they go and fight to preserve our country, culture, and way of life, and are so successful at it that we sleep easily at night, and have a hard time gathering what the sacrifices that they make are.

I have a brother in the Marines, and I would not presume to give a picture of that life of sacrifice and struggle. It is simply true that we can barley fathom what it is like. And it is also true that our military has a hard time expressing it themselves. How do you, blood-stained, grief-stricken, and weary, tell a latte-sipping, Birkenstock-wearing, ex-frat boy computer programmer what life is like over there? It is pretty tough.

You can see this frustration over on this post at Big Hollywood. This marine is angry, and particularly so because Hollywood does think that it can picture life over there. To these worthless Americans, this marine is a killer of innocents. To me, he is a protector of innocents. This is a fundamental divide in America,  and one that is perhaps insuperable. Either this marine has to keep on fighting, so that the Hollywood traitors can keep on stabbing him in the back, or he has to surrender his country and let Sharia law benevolently limit the lives of all Americans. These men suffer for us, and they should have our support.
