I just read an article linked on Drudge about Obama trying to halt all of the talk of bank nationalization. One part was rather amusing:
“This administration continues to strongly believe that a privately held banking system is the correct way to go, ensuring that they are regulated sufficiently by this government,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said when asked about nationalizing the banks.
“That’s been our belief for quite some time, and we continue to have that,” Gibbs said.
Oh! That has been their belief for quite some time? How long? Well, lets say since February 10, or thereabouts, when Rasmussen polled and found 75% of Americans opposed nationalization.
I love that Gibbs not only states that it has been their belief, but that they continue to have it. Good to know. Of course, their out is that whenever the public opinion sways their way on nationalization, we can be sure that they won’t change their minds, but only their method of ensuring that the banks “are regulated sufficiently by the government.”

I’m surprised they’re pulling a 1984 without first establishing the Ministry of Truth.
